“Julianne and Kelley were always glowing, happy and excited after meeting with Alice and Gene!” – Nicole of LK Events, Senior Event Consultant

 The Brides: Julianne + Kelley

The Location: The Rookery Building in Chicago, Illinois

The Search: Julianne and Kelley both knew that they wanted to wear something completely unique on their wedding day. While Kelley wanted something that no other bride could find on a rack, Julianne sought something even more specific: a period suit inspired by Les Miserables and Downton Abbey. After finding our studio through Facebook, the two brides were impressed by our enthusiasm and expertise, and began the process of creating completely custom attire with Alice as their designer.

The Dress and the Suit: Julianne and Kelley were both thrilled with their one-of-a-kind looks. Julianne’s suit was constructed from all silk shantung and based on the costuming of the 18th century French Revolution. Kelley’s dress complimented Julianne’s suit in color, and was inspired by Art Deco styles typical of the designer Mariano Fortuny. It was constructed from French cut chiffon, and included custom made jewelry as well. For this type of custom work, Alice enjoys delving her knowledge of aesthetics and fabric in addition to historical costuming in order to create contemporary looks that are accurate, flattering, and elegant.

The Wedding Day: Wearing their perfect wedding attire, Julianne and Kelley had their first look in the lobby of the Hotel Burnham, and then spent time in Olive Park for photographs. When they entered The Rookery for their ceremony, all of the guests were completely impressed by the detail and beauty of their apparel. The whole evening was wonderful, and we were happy to be able to create the custom couture which completed the picture. We wish you many happy years together, Julianne + Kelley!

“From the exquisite fabrics to Alice’s brilliance, my daughter ended up with the dress of her dreams- a masterpiece!” -Marcy, Mother of the Bride

The Bride: Jennifer

The Location: The Milwaukee Museum of Art, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The Search: A series of visits to many top bridal salons in the Milwaukee and Chicago areas left Jennifer and her mother, Marcy, feeling anxious about finding the dress. Luckily for them, the first gown they tried on at our studio was The Anna from our Alice Padrul Wedding Dress Collection. The moment Jennifer put on the dress, she fell in love and knew it was The One!

The Dress: The Anna is a strapless mermaid gown made with imported Belgian Bruges cotton lace, which creates an intricate patterning on the entire dress and an elegantly feminine silhouette. We were thrilled to be able to work with Jennifer in order to customize her gown in a variety of ways. We ornamented Jennifer’s wedding dress with a line of pearl and Swarovski crystal buttons along the back, and finished her delicate and romantic style with a custom designed organza sash and handmade flower crafted from the same Belgian Bruge cotton lace as the dress itself. A custom headpiece completed the look from head to toe.

The Wedding Day: Jennifer and her groom, Josh, were married in August at the Milwaukee Museum of Art, and Photographic Memories by The Oberstadts were there in order to capture beautiful images of the day. We are thrilled that we could be part of this special occasion, and wish Jennifer and Josh many happy years together!

The shoot turned out stunningly and we are so ecstatic to be a part of such a talented group. The shoot has been featured on the Ruffled blog along with a really great writeup of the photos. We just received these gorgeous photos of our bride Alice’s Costa Rica wedding. Such a picturesque place! Alice was kind enough to send this kind note about her experience working with us. Congratulations Alice!

“Working with Alice Padrul has been a really wonderful experience.  I really feel lucky to have happened upon her studio (found her on Yelp), which is both adorable and inviting.  It was the first place I had gone to look for a wedding dress and the first dress I tried on ended up being the one!  Alice was very understanding and helpful when I asked to have the dress modified – there is nothing like working with the actual designer of your dress.  It’s been such a pleasure to work with her and she is amazing – I trust her suggestions and opinions completely.  The dress has turned out to be comfortable, gorgeous, and perfect!  I can’t wait to wear it.  I highly, highly recommend Alice Padrul for your wedding dress – she can do anything!”
