Currently teaching Fashion Design at the Art Institute of Chicago
The unique designs of Alice Padrul will redefine the
way modern brides envision wedding gowns for their special
day. The gowns showcase her ability to utilize exceptional
style and poise with different elements of design. The
result is a product which is not only wearable, but
also a genuine art piece.
Alice Padrul began her formal art education in Moscow,
Russia. During this time, she was exposed to classical
art instruction in drawing, painting, art history and
historical costume design. In 1978 she enrolled at the
School of the Art Institute, Chicago, continuing her
study of fashion design and illustration, and from there
received her degree.
After working with several leading designers, Alice
opened her own company in 1983, which was dedicated
to special occasion gowns. At this time, Alice’s designs
were selling to five department stores and three hundred
specialty shops. High praise and consistent recognition
led her to the World Trade Fashion Fair in 1990 in Osaka,
Japan, where she presented her line.
While immersed in her craft, Ms. Padrul learned, through
extensive market research, that there is a demand for
the type of elegant, one-of-a-kind gowns she loves to
create. Unique style, the highest standards of workmanship,
and attention to detail have made her line successful.
Several years ago, Alice naturally transitioned from
special occasion designs to bridal couture exclusively.
“I wanted to create something original. My vision of
a wedding gown is lightweight, airy, easy to wear, comfortable
bride, not overwhelmed by the gown…modern, clean lines.
As a result, my gowns have become extremely popular
for destination weddings and garden weddings.”
Alice Padrul’s gowns reveal delicate, ornate trims and
long, soft contours that offer a modern yet classic
look. Elaborate detail showcases the charming elegance
of each line with extraordinary talent and skill. Alice’s
signature elements are her sculptured floral designs,
whether subtle or obvious, all created in her studio
by skilled artisans. Her fabrics are the finest silks,
taffetas, French lace, Belgian Brugge lace, organzas,
chiffons and shantung, with Mokuba ribbon trims, Swarovski
crystals and rhinestones, all assembled by her European-trained
staff.
“Our relationship with the bridal salon is very important
to us,” Alice continues. “We work closely with the stores
to enable them to offer the finest customer service,
for this is the most important day for the bride.” Alice
Padrul’s gowns will delight you with a range of styles,
whether you are looking for an uncomplicated, simple,
sleek design or a lavish gown with flair.
